Smart Functional Materials

Nanostructuring of materials allows the exploitation of new combinations of physical properties. The focus of the Smart Functional Materials group is on nanoporous sol-gel-based materials with adjustable pore and particle sizes, that are used inter alia in the fields of electrochemistry, thermal insulation, adsorbers and filters. The development of new or adapted measurement methods for the reliable characterization of functional materials is one of the core competences of the working group.
